There are 3 main types of hose reels

1. SPRING RETRACTABLE HOSE REELS

Spring driven or "spring retractable" reels are the most commonly used reel in today's market. They are ideal for common lengths of small to medium size hose, as a rule of thumb, up to around 38mm internal diameter (1 ½ ")

2. MANUAL CRANK HOSE REELS

Two types of manual reels are available:

Direct Crank: Hose is wound on to the drum via a crank handle attached directly to the centre of the reeling drum.

Bevel Geared Crank: Hose is normally wound on to the drum via a crank handle attached at the front of the reel through a gearing system allowing hose to be wound more easily than direct crank units.

Manual rewind reels are designed for longer lengths of hose and are available for larger internal diameter hose. Note: This type of reel can become impractical to use when the length and size of hose becomes too heavy to manually rewind on to the reeling drum. This should be taken into account when specifying your reel.

3. MOTOR DRIVEN HOSE REELS

Motor driven reels are used for all other heavy duty reeling applications. We have standard products and we also custom build product tailored to your specification.
Motor driven options are:

Electric
Air
Hydraulic

Supplied in either geared or chain driven options. This type of reel should be specified when you have extremely long lengths of hose or cable, it has become impractical to use a manual reel or you have a specialist application that calls for a motor driven reel.

The main reasons for using a hose reel

A Hose reel make your working environment more efficient.
Hose is where you want it when you need it.

Hoses can last up to five times as long when stored on a hose reel.
When hose is laying on the floor it is susceptible to damage.

Hoses on reels can reduce the threat of costly air & water leakage.
When hose is stored on reels less damage means less leakages.

Hose reels can help reduce tripping accidents.
Hose is stored off the floor away from any hazard.
